Saaleha Bhamjee is a freelance writer based in South Africa. She began writing professionally in 2002. Her first articles appeared in the An Nisaa Magazine. She’s had a short story published in The Straight Path as well. She then began writing as a regular columnist for The Muslim Woman, South Africa’s most widely read Islamic Magazine. She maintained this job for two and a half years.
She left The Muslim Woman in 2006 and has since had numerous articles on Islam Online and one in the UK based Muslim Weekly. A short story has been featured in the Islamic Writers Alliance magazine, Islamic Ink.
She is currently a reviewer for the Islamic Poetry website. Many of her poems have been posted on the site as well. She is working on a collection of South African short stories and a novel.
Saaleha is involved in projects aimed at creating awareness of Child Abuse within the community. She is also working on a establishing a forum for Muslim Woman, dedicated to assisting with various community projects on all levels.
