W.B. Abdullah has been an avid reader and writer since she can remember. Her poetry and illustrations were published early in life throughout her primary and secondary education. W.B. Abdullah accredits reading with her embrace of Islam at the tender age of 16. She has always particularly loved the ability of books to transport readers to other times and places, and effectively uses them as her personal time travel machine while working as a stay-at-home-mother.
W.B. Abdullah has a B.F.A. in Art Education (with full licensure to teach Pre-K-12th grade) and a B.A. in International Studies. While mapping out her graduate studies and “newly” chosen career in the literary arts, W.B. Abdullah currently writes for Azizah Magazine and on her blog, The Sandal (http://wbabdullah.wordpress.com). Part travelogue, part journal, part Islamic History 101, the blog takes its name from the sandal of the Prophet (saws) in the hopes of inspiring readers to walk in the footsteps of the prophets (pbut).W.B. Abdullah hopes to have her own stories published one day for children and adults insh’Allah and is currently working on a novel, a few short stories, and some children’s stories. She is fluent in 3½ languages (Spanish, English, and Russian), and is still working on that Arabic! W.B. Abdullah lives in Maryland near her native D.C.
