Welcome to the IWA

The Islamic Writers Alliance is a United States-based professional Muslim organization with an international membership. Members include published and aspiring writers, editors, artists, publishers, journalists, playwrights, web designers, retailers, and marketing consultants. If you are looking for a group of Muslim professionals with whom to network, gain resource information, and promote literacy and education while practicing your deen, the Islamic Writers Alliance is for you!  The IWA is an inclusive organization and welcomes adult Muslim men and women of all races, ethnicities, linguistic backgrounds, abilities, and creeds.

In furthering its organizational goals, the IWA regularly awards fiction and non-fiction Islamic books to Islamic school libraries and sponsors creative writing contests for Islamic schools. The IWA sponsors two annual contests open to the public: an Islamic poetry contest and an Islamic fiction story contest.  The IWA also publishes the quarterly online magazine Islamic Ink.

Goodbye Islamic Ink and Hello IWA Magazine

The IWA organization is excited and pleased to announce the publication of its online quarterly magazine: the August 2010 Edition of IWA Magazine!

To read this awesome edition and receive email notifications of future published editions go to www.iwamagazine.wordpress.com. There is an email sign up location in the right side column of the cover page.

Publishing in this new format will give readers an opportunity to comment on magazine pages and the great content in each edition. The IWA Board and membership look forward to hearing from you!

The IWA sponsored its Annual Poetry Contest for the year of 2010 in April, as it has been in this same month in years past, coinciding with National Poetry Month (US). The theme for this year's contest is 'ibadah', or worship.

The IWA is also planning to sponsor the annual Islamic Fiction Stories contest as well, but no definite date has yet been set for this contest.
