American Poet Takes Top
Adult Prize in Prophet Mohammad Poetry Contest:
The winners of the first annual
Praise the Prophet International
Poetry Competition were announced online Sunday, February 28, 2007
at
www.islamicpoetry.com. The top prize in the adult category
went to Linda D. Delgado of Tempe, Arizona, for her submission titled
My Hero Is Your
Hero. |

Goals and
Projects |
|
Widad's current goals are to:
-
increase the
number of quality English Language Islamic fiction books
for older children and high school level teens in Islamic
school libraries and increase the number of English
Language Islamic fiction books used in Islamic schools’
Language Arts programs.
-
bring
awareness to Muslim publishers of the need to publish
quality English language Islamic fiction books written by
Muslim authors for older children and high school
students/teens and teacher study guides to be used in
Islamic school classrooms to meet State and Federal
educational requirements and most importantly to benefit
our Muslim children.
-
bring
awareness to Muslim retailers the need to list, stock, and
sell quality English language Islamic fiction books
written by Muslim authors for older children and high
school students/teens and make available to school
administrators the teacher study guides to be used in
Islamic school classrooms in order to meet State and
Federal educational requirements and most importantly to
benefit our Muslim children.

To achieve these goals, Widad
has developed several strategies/projects:

Creating and
Sponsoring JAMS Book Fairs for Islamic
Schools

Sponsoring
Creative Writing Contests for Islamic
schools

Donating new quality Islamic
books to Islamic school libraries

Short Biography |
|
Linda D. Delgado,
known by many as Widad, is a Muslim revert, the mother of three,
grandmother of eight, and great grandmother of one sweet
granddaughter. She is a graduate of the University of Phoenix and
retired as a Sergeant in 2000 from the Arizona Department of Public
Safety. Widad is an award winning author and the owner-publisher of
Muslim Writers Publishing: a traditional Muslim publishing house. |
