In the Name of Allah
Most Gracious-Most Merciful
Honorary Member of the IWA
Amatullah Al-Marwani embraced Islam in 1996. She was a California resident, wife, mother of Amirah and Zaahir, public speaker, teacher, author, web-developer, and President of ISLAM in Action. At the time of her death she was employed as a librarian at the Granada Islamic School.
On April 29, 2005 Sister Amatullah died several weeks after undergoing a bone marrow transplant for the leukemia she endured for three years. Amatullah was a gifted writer, friend to many, and an exceptional Muslimah. She loved Allah, her family and she loved Muslims.
Amatullah wrote, "Raising children with the morals, values and dignity of our faith can be a struggle for parents. Insha'Allah, these books will make one step of the journey easier—and more fun!—for the whole family."
Amatullah also wrote speeches for Board members of CAIR-National and helped many Muslim brothers by creating written resumes needed for employment. She often penned herself as “The Mad Rhyming Woman” because she loved to use rhyming in her correspondence with friends, poetry and stories.
Amatullah was a founding member of Islamic Writers Alliance and beloved by her many peers and sisters in Islam. To honor her memory and work she remains as an honorary member of Islamic Writers Alliance.
A very well-known hadith relates to us the saying of the Prophet Mohammed (SAAW) that a person's deeds come to an end after his death, except for three things: an ongoing charity, knowledge (or some sort of recorded message) that benefits the people, and a pious son (child) who prays for him. (transcribed from Sahih Muslim, Book #013, Hadith #4005).
