The parent or guardian of the above-named child understands and agrees that the Islamic Writers Alliance (IWA) will display the child's name, images of the child's publication and one or more links to internet retailers from which to buy the publication. If provided, the IWA will also display a link to the child's professional website and an author’s bio, but it does not request nor does it accept or display any links to personal or family websites.
The IWA is very concerned for the safety of its members and for the children whose works will be published on its site. Thus, its request for the child's personal information is very limited, and no visitor will be able to contact the child or his/her parents through the IWA website.
For its internal use and contact purposes only, the IWA will collect the child's name, age or grade level (no birth dates, please!) and the parent's email address. No other personal information pertaining to the child will be collected, and any extraneous information provided in this application will cause this application to be rejected.
The IWA will be reasonably sure that the information posted on its website is accurate. However, it cannot be responsible for situations beyond its control, including site-hacking and viewership. If at any time a child or parent wishes to be removed from the IWA website, the Secretary of the IWA balqees.mohammed@gmail.com, secretary@islamicwritersalliance.net, must be notified in order to carry out the request in a timely fashion. Likewise, it is recommended that the IWA be contacted in the event the child publishes new works that he or she wishes to add to the IWA website.
2.Make sure that valid signatures of both the applicant and parent or guardian are included, and that no excess personal information other than what has been requested is provided.
3.Include the official website for the work to be showcased (if there is such a website already in existence), and a jpg image of the book-cover to be displayed. Directions follow as to how to transfer the jpg image. Please note that only one jpg image per author will be shown. Therefore, for those who have more than one work to be represented, please select and send only one jpg image.
4.Although only one jpg image is allotted per author for representation on the Young Author’s Page, those authors having more than one title to their name may make mention of all works they have published, as well as all other relevant information to those works, such as links and information on buying and viewing those works. There is no need to make another application for subsequent works. Please simply include other works on separate pages, to be included and submitted with original application.
5.Directions on making a jpg image: if the jpg image of the book-cover already exists on the internet (either on the official website of the book, or at an online retailer), simply right click on the image displayed, then choose ‘save as’, and then choose from among the choices ‘jpg’, then save it to your computer either on the desktop or in the downloads section or the documents or pictures, whichever place on your computer is most convenient for you to use for transferring. Then include that in an attachment to be supplied with the completed application form. If the image does not exist online, then simply save it into your computer via scan in the pictures section, select ‘save as’, and then select jpg from the formats of saving. Transfer to us in the same method, via attachment to be sent along with the application form.
6.Author’s Bio (optional): If this information is supplied and the applicant is accepted (completed the application form successfully), this will also be included on the resulting page awarded the author. This should be a short (150 word) synopsis of the author, perhaps including short mention of how or why the author came to being published or how he or she became interested in writing for public view. The “Author’s Bio” should be sent as a separate attachment in MS word along with the application, and it should include the Author’s name, and title of work(s) which is mentioned in the application. In keeping in adherence with the application regulations, please do not include personal or sensitive information in the bio (such as place of residence or other similar personal information). Any bio that does include such personal information will cause the author's application to be rejected. The IWA will, however, accept a subsequent application that conforms to this Notice.
